A 17-year-old boy from Burton-on-Trent has been arrested and bailed in connection with a knifepoint robbery at Wendy's Newsagents in Stapenhill. Staffordshire Police were called to the shop on Main Street shortly before 5pm on Tuesday 11 August following reports of the incident.
Suspect detained with knife and cash
Officers later found a person in the area matching the description of the suspect. He was detained, and a knife, a balaclava, and £141 in cash were seized. The suspect had reportedly taken money from the till and a bottle of brandy before leaving the premises.
The teenager was arrested on suspicion of robbery, possession of a knife in a public place, threats to kill, and affray. He has since been bailed with conditions while police enquiries continue.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "We have arrested a man and seized a knife and a balaclava following a robbery in Burton-on-Trent. Shortly before 5pm yesterday (Tuesday 11 August), we were called to Wendy's Newsagents on Main Street, Stapenhill, following a knifepoint robbery. The suspect took money from the till and a bottle of brandy before leaving."
The spokesperson added: "Officers later found a person in the area matching the description of the suspect. He was detained and a knife, a balaclava and £141 in cash was seized.
