An 18-year-old man has been arrested in Birmingham city centre after police discovered a zombie-style combat knife during a high-visibility patrol. The incident occurred at around 5pm on June 9, as officers were targeting hotspot areas to tackle serious youth violence and knife crime.
Officers became suspicious of a group that reacted to their presence. After a brief pursuit, they caught up with a man who had tried to flee. A search revealed a large zombie-style combat knife, leading to his arrest on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.
Second Arrest in Dudley
In a separate incident, officers in Dudley town centre spotted a car acting suspiciously in the Tipton area, driving in circles near Victoria Park. Checks revealed the vehicle had links to anti-social behaviour, weapons, and drugs.
When the officers approached, the car sped off dangerously, mounted a kerb, and damaged multiple parked vehicles. It eventually crashed into a tree. Officers saw a bag being thrown from the window and later recovered approximately 30 wraps of Class A drugs.
A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs on Manor Road, Tipton, shortly before 3.40pm. Both men remain in custody for questioning.
