A teenage boy has been charged after a knife was found on a road in Birmingham. The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested and later charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place.

The discovery occurred on Tuesday, 14 March, when police officers on patrol spotted the weapon on the ground in the Handsworth area. The knife was recovered, and the suspect was identified and taken into custody shortly afterwards.
West Midlands Police confirmed that the teenager was charged on Wednesday, 15 March, and has been released on bail to appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on 12 April.
