A 17-year-old has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing at Stafford Castle golf course earlier this month. The incident occurred on a public footpath through the golf course just before 7pm on Thursday, May 14, when a man in his 60s was attacked.
The victim remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition. Specialist officers are providing ongoing support to him and his family.
The teenager was arrested on Tuesday evening, May 19, and has also been charged with theft from a shop. Due to his age, he cannot be named for legal reasons.
He is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Saturday, May 23.
A 30-year-old man who was previously arrested in connection with the investigation has been released with no further action.
Staffordshire Police have urged the public to avoid speculation, assumptions, or commentary regarding the matter while legal proceedings are ongoing.
