A 16-year-old boy has died following a collision on the A4104 in Worcestershire on Saturday night, September 12. The teenager was a passenger in a blue Volkswagen Polo that struck a tree between the carriageway and the slip road to Bourne Road at approximately 9.20pm.
The vehicle was travelling in the direction of Dunstall at the time of the incident. West Mercia Police confirmed the teen suffered significant injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other passengers, aged 16 and 17, sustained minor injuries.
Arrest and Bail
An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving in excess of drink and drugs. He has since been interviewed and bailed as enquiries continue, according to the force.
Detective Sergeant Rose Hughes from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Firstly, our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the boy who tragically lost his life yesterday. They are being supported by specialist officers and will be kept informed throughout the investigation process.”
Appeal for Witnesses
West Mercia Police has urged anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicle travelling prior to the incident to come forward. The force is particularly interested in any dashcam footage that could help piece together the moments leading up to the crash.
DS Hughes added: “We are now appealing for witnesses who may have seen the collision, or the vehicle travelling prior to the incident taking place. If you have any information or dashcam footage which may help us piece together the moments leading up to the collision, please get in contact with us.”
