Harriet Boyles, a 19-year-old from Stoke-on-Trent, died four days after being injured in a crash on Lichfield Road in Armitage, Staffordshire. A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences and released on bail while police continue their investigation.
Crash and Emergency Response
Harriet was a passenger in a Ford when the vehicle hit a tree on Lichfield Road in Armitage. Medics arrived at the scene at approximately 1.35am on Saturday, August 22, and she was rushed to hospital. Despite the efforts of medical staff, she died on Wednesday, August 26.
Staffordshire Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward. A spokesperson said: "We are keen to speak to anyone with any information or dashcam footage which could help collision investigators."
Family Tribute and Organ Donation
Harriet's family paid tribute to her, describing her as a "beautiful young woman whose kindness, warmth and caring nature touched everyone who knew her." They noted that at just 19, she had already made a lasting impression through her compassion and intelligence. "Family meant everything to Harriet. She treasured every moment spent with her loved ones and brought joy, laughter, and comfort wherever she went," they said.
Her family also highlighted her academic achievements, noting she was recognised as Head Girl during high school. She was due to begin an apprenticeship in finance and was excited about the future. In her passing, Harriet donated six organs, helping to save and transform the lives of others. Her family described this as "a true reflection of her character."
Arrest and Investigation
The driver of the Ford, a 23-year-old man from Newcastle-under-Lyme, was arrested on suspicion of driving offences. He has been released on bail with conditions while Staffordshire Police investigate.
