Arrest made at the scene

A 19-year-old man was arrested at the scene of the collision on suspicion of causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to provide a breath specimen. He remains in police custody today, October 18, according to the force.

BirminghamLive photographs show a fragment of blue-and-white police tape still attached to a road sign, marking the aftermath of the cordon that was in place overnight. A series of orange barriers have been erected along the pavement next to the railings involved in the crash.

Anyone with information can call us on 101, message via Live Chat, or email the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at SCIU@westmidlands.police.uk." They asked anyone with information to quote log 4403 of 17 Oct.
