A 17-year-old boy is in stable condition after being stabbed in Birmingham city centre, following a violent altercation between two groups in Victoria Square. The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 PM on Tuesday, June 23, prompting an emergency response from West Midlands Ambulance Service and police.

Emergency Response and Medical Care

Paramedics received multiple 999 calls reporting the stabbing and dispatched two paramedic officers, an ambulance, and a critical care car to the scene. The teenager was given trauma care on-site before being transported to the hospital with blue lights and sirens for further emergency treatment. A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed: "We received multiple 999 calls to reports of a stabbing in Victoria Square, Birmingham, last night. Two paramedic officers, an ambulance and critical care car responded to the scene. A teenage boy was given trauma care by ambulance staff before being conveyed on blue lights and sirens to hospital for further emergency care."

Police Investigation and Appeal

West Midlands Police have launched an investigation into the stabbing, which is believed to have stemmed from a fight between two groups. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses. A cordon remains in place as forensic examinations continue. Detective Superintendent Lucy Kirwan acknowledged the incident may alarm the public: "I understand the stabbing will concern people living, working and visiting the city centre.
