Tragedy Strikes at Bridlington Holiday Park During Half-Term Break

In a deeply distressing incident that has shocked the local community, two teenagers were found dead at a holiday park in Bridlington during the half-term break. Emergency services responded to a call regarding safety concerns at Little Eden Holiday Park on Bridlington Bay Road yesterday, where they discovered the bodies of a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy inside a rental property.

Police Investigation and Arrest Made

Humberside Police have confirmed the arrest of a 33-year-old man on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter in connection with the deaths. The man remains in police custody as investigations continue. Despite this arrest, authorities are currently treating the deaths as unexplained while they conduct extensive and complex enquiries.

Chief Superintendent Matt Peach, Northbank Divisional Commander, stated: "This is incredibly distressing and heartbreaking for the families of the teenagers involved, and they are at the forefront of our minds and actions. Specially trained officers have been supporting the families over the last 24-hours."

Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Possibility Under Investigation

Police have revealed they are exploring the possibility that the deaths may be connected to carbon monoxide poisoning. Chief Superintendent Peach explained: "Whilst we are in the very early stages and the deaths at this time remain unexplained, we are exploring the possibility that they may be connected to carbon monoxide poisoning, with further enquiries continuing with our partner agencies."

Emergency services and partner agencies have attended all other properties on the holiday park site to offer advice, support and guidance to ensure everyone's safety. A cordon remains in place at the scene as investigations continue.

Multi-Agency Response and Community Impact

The police are working closely with Humberside Fire & Rescue, the Health and Safety Executive, and East Riding of Yorkshire Council to establish the full circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. Chief Superintendent Peach acknowledged the community impact, stating: "We know the shock and upset this will cause to the local community, and I want to offer my reassurance we will do all we can to determine exactly what has happened."

Those living in the area will continue to see an increased police presence as the investigation progresses. Authorities have requested that people refrain from speculation and respect the privacy of the grieving families during this difficult time.

The holiday park tragedy has cast a shadow over what should have been a festive half-term break for families across the region. As the investigation unfolds, police have promised to provide further updates as soon as they are able to do so.
