West Midlands Police have charged a third man in connection with a shooting in Digbeth, Birmingham, which left one man injured. Ewan Patterson, aged 27 and from Birmingham, was arrested on Friday, August 28, and has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm, and violent disorder.
Patterson was due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Monday, August 31. The charges follow an incident at the corner of Hack Street and Bromley Street at around 11.20pm on Sunday, August 23, when trouble spilled out onto the street and a man was shot in the leg.
Police confirm third arrest in ongoing investigation
In a statement, West Midlands Police said: "We've charged a third man over a shooting in Digbeth. Ewan Patterson, aged 27, was arrested on Friday and has now been charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm, and violent disorder."
The force added: "It comes after trouble in Digbeth last Sunday, which spilled out onto the street at the corner of Hack Street and Bromley Street at around 11.20pm. One man was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg."
Two men already charged; enquiries continuing
Two men have previously been charged in connection with the same incident. The police statement noted: "Two men have previously been charged over the incident, and our enquiries are continuing."
The shooting prompted a large police presence at the scene, with the Digbeth street sealed off as officers carried out their investigation. The injured man was taken to hospital for treatment following the attack.
Police appeal for information and evidence
West Midlands Police have set up a dedicated website where members of the public can send images, video, and other information directly to investigators. Alternatively, witnesses can contact the force via 101, quoting log 4503 of 23 August.
The investigation remains ongoing, with police continuing to gather evidence and pursue further enquiries into the circumstances of the shooting.
