Three people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a violent shooting in Birmingham on Wednesday afternoon.

Broad Daylight Attack in Hockley

The incident occurred on Great Hampton Row in the Hockley area. A man in his 20s was shot and sustained serious injuries. Emergency services rushed him to hospital, where he remains receiving specialist treatment.

West Midlands Police responded swiftly to the incident, launching a major investigation. Two men, aged 19 and 20, and a 19-year-old woman were subsequently detained by officers in connection with the attack.

Police Investigation and Community Response

Detectives currently believe this was a targeted attack and are working to establish a motive and any links between those involved. A significant police cordon was established to allow forensic teams to scour the scene for evidence.

Officers have been conducting CCTV reviews and carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the local neighbourhood. The shooting, which happened in a busy residential area during the afternoon, has caused understandable concern among residents.

In response, West Midlands Police have increased patrols in the Hockley area to provide a visible presence and reassurance to the community.
