Three men have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder after a 15-year-old boy was shot in a Birmingham park last month. The arrests follow a police investigation into the incident, which occurred in Yellow Park, also known as Clifford Street Public Open Space, off Porchester Street in Newtown.
Arrests made in connection with shooting
West Midlands Police confirmed that two men, aged 21 and 27, were detained after a car was stopped in High Wycombe on Wednesday, August 5. A third man, aged 24, was arrested from a vehicle in Birmingham. All three remain in custody for questioning as inquiries continue.
The victim, a 15-year-old boy, was discovered with gunshot wounds in Newtown Row, Newtown, at just after 10.30pm on July 23. It is understood he was shot in the nearby park on Porchester Street. Fortunately, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or changing.
Police statement on the investigation
In a statement, West Midlands Police said: "We've arrested three men after a teenager was discovered with a gunshot wound in Birmingham last month. We started an investigation after a 15-year-old boy was discovered with injuries in Newtown Row, Newtown at just after 10.30pm on 23 July."
The statement continued: "It's understood he was shot in the nearby park in Porchester Street and thankfully his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or changing. As part of the investigation two men - aged 21 and 27 - were detained after a car was stopped in High Wycombe yesterday and a further 24-year-old man from a vehicle in Birmingham."

Police are continuing their enquiries, including a thorough review of CCTV, to establish exactly what happened and who was involved. They are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
