The devastated family of a young father stabbed to death in the early hours of Christmas Day have described him as a "loving" and "caring soul" who will be profoundly missed.

A Life Cut Short on Christmas Morning

Trey Johnson, aged 30, was discovered with serious injuries on Burcot Avenue in the Wolverhampton area at approximately 3.30am on 25 December. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the father-of-two was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a heartfelt tribute released through West Midlands Police, his grieving family painted a picture of a devoted family man. They said Trey was a loving sibling, partner, and a dedicated father to his two children. They remembered a man whose positive energy and smile could light up any room.

Family's Heartfelt Tribute to a 'Good Man'

The family's statement continued: "He was a good man, a good son, that did everything and more for his family. Trey is a person that would do anything for anyone." They expressed immense pride in him and stated his loss would be deeply felt by all who knew him.

Detective Inspector Michelle Cordell, from the force's Homicide Unit, extended her condolences. "Our thoughts are focussed on Mr Johnson's family and loved ones, at this incredibly difficult time," she said.

Ongoing Investigation and Witness Appeal

The investigation into the fatal stabbing is progressing rapidly, with officers speaking to witnesses and trawling through CCTV footage from the area. Police are working to establish the precise circumstances that led to Trey's death and to identify those responsible.

DI Cordell added: "Our enquiries are moving at pace and we are keeping the family updated as the investigation moves forward. We have spoken with a number of witnesses but would urge anyone who has information about what happened that night to come forward and talk to us."
