Staffordshire Police have arrested two men on suspicion of murder following the death of a man in his 20s who sustained a stab wound in Newcastle-under-Lyme. The incident occurred on Orme Road, and the victim was pronounced dead at hospital after being rushed there by ambulance.
Police called to Orme Road after ambulance request
Officers were called to Orme Road shortly after 5pm on Friday, September 4, by colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service. Upon arrival, they found a man in his 20s with a stab wound. He was taken to hospital, but despite medical efforts, he could not be saved.
The man's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers, according to a force spokesperson.
Two local men held in custody
A 20-year-old man and a 22-year-old man, both from the Newcastle-under-Lyme area, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They remained in custody overnight as enquiries continue.
Staffordshire Police is appealing for witnesses and anyone with relevant CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage in the area of Orme Road, Rotterdam, and Mill Bank Place to come forward.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: “Two people have been arrested following the death of a man in Newcastle-under-Lyme. We were called to Orme Road just after 5pm yesterday (Friday, September 4) by colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service. A man in his 20s was found to have injuries deemed consistent with a stab wound. He was taken to hospital, where he sadly died.”
The statement continued: “His next of kin have been informed and specially-trained officers will be supporting them. A 20-year-old man and a 22-year-old man, both from the Newcastle-under-Lyme area, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They both remain in custody whilst our enquiries continue.”
