Two thieves have been arrested after they smashed into parked cars during a police chase in Birmingham. The men were spotted by traffic officers driving a stolen and cloned Toyota Estima on Tuesday, May 19. The vehicle had been used to steal another car the day before.
Police Pursuit on Washwood Heath Road
A pursuit began, and the thieves smashed into several vehicles and a police car on Washwood Heath Road. After the crash, they attempted to flee on foot but were quickly detained by officers. Fortunately, no members of the public were hit or injured in the incident.
Police Statement
Traffic officers from West Midlands Police said: 'RoadCrimeTeam officers saw this cloned and stolen Toyota Estima, which was used to steal another car the day before. It was pursued in Washwood Heath before ramming a police vehicle and several other cars. Both occupants decamped but were quickly arrested.'
Footage posted online showed several damaged vehicles belonging to members of the public along Washwood Heath Road. The incident highlights the dangers posed by car thieves and the effectiveness of police response in apprehending suspects.
