Two men have been sentenced to lengthy prison terms after a dramatic police chase through Sandwell culminated in the discovery of a loaded revolver and a stash of illegal drugs.
Reckless Pursuit Through West Bromwich
The incident began at approximately 10am on 5 May 2025, when officers identified a suspicious Ford Fiesta on Wood Lane in West Bromwich. The vehicle, which was later confirmed to be stolen, immediately sped away upon police attention.
Behind the wheel was Tammem Miah, aged 23 of High Street, Tipton. In a desperate bid to escape, Miah drove dangerously through red traffic signals and ventured onto the wrong side of the road. His reckless manoeuvres forced other motorists to swerve onto pavements to avoid collisions.
Crash, Capture, and Crucial Finds
The pursuit reached its conclusion on Arthur Road in Tipton when Miah crashed the car. He attempted to flee on foot but was swiftly apprehended by pursuing officers. A search of his bag revealed the alarming haul: a revolver, ammunition, heroin, and crack cocaine.
Further investigations led police to an address where Miah was detained. A search of a room linked to an associate, Mohammed Ahmed, aged 23 of Arthur Road, uncovered additional quantities of Class A drugs along with drug paraphernalia.
Court Sentencing and Police Statement
At Birmingham Crown Court on 10 December 2025, both men were sentenced. Tammem Miah pleaded guilty to a string of charges including:
- Possession of a firearm and ammunition
- Possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply
- Dangerous driving
- Disqualified driving
- Receiving stolen goods
He was handed a significant prison sentence of nine years.
Mohammed Ahmed admitted possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and was jailed for two years and six months.
Commenting on the case, Detective Constable Kyle Bowering from the Major Crime Team stated: "Miah was armed with a potentially lethal weapon and was reckless in his efforts to avoid being caught by officers. He was prepared to put other lives at risk to try and get away."
"We seized Class A drugs from both Miah and Ahmed which would likely have been traded. We know drugs not only ruin lives but lead to other crime and they’re now both rightly behind bars," DC Bowering added.
The court result underscores continued police efforts to remove dangerous weapons and harmful drugs from the streets of the West Midlands.
