Two Men Sentenced for Manslaughter of Coventry Mother Reanne Coulson
Two men involved in the killing of Reanne Coulson, a mother-of-two from Coventry, have been jailed following a detailed police investigation. Mohammed Durnion, aged 42, was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 18 years imprisonment, while his accomplice Adam Moore, aged 39, was found guilty of assisting an offender and received a six-year jail term.
Details of the Crime and Investigation
On May 21, 2025, Durnion took Reanne Coulson to his flat on Paynes Lane near Coventry city centre shortly after 11:20 PM. Within minutes, he attacked the 33-year-old sex worker, who was known to use drugs, and concealed her body at the address overnight. The following day, Durnion transported her to Binley Woods, where he buried her in a shallow grave with Moore's assistance. Reanne's body was discovered five-and-a-half weeks later, after she had been reported missing on June 11, 2025.
The investigation involved extensive efforts by West Midlands Police, including tracing phone calls, analyzing movements, and collecting forensic evidence. Durnion was arrested and, while in custody, broke down emotionally and agreed to lead detectives to the burial site in Binley Woods, although he initially denied killing her. Moore was also arrested for his role in helping to hide the body.
Family Statement and Impact
In a heartfelt statement, Reanne's family expressed their gratitude for the support received during this difficult time. They described Reanne as a devoted mother, loving daughter, caring sister, and loyal friend, emphasizing her beauty, kindness, and humour. The family highlighted the profound and lasting impact of her loss, stating that her absence is felt in every aspect of their daily lives. They requested that Reanne be remembered for her vibrant personality rather than the circumstances of her death and asked for continued privacy and compassion.
Police Commentary and Sentencing
Detective Inspector Nigel Box from the homicide unit commented on the case, describing it as a brutal attack on a defenceless woman. He noted that Durnion attempted to distract officers and shift focus during the investigation, only confessing after seeing emotive pleas from Reanne's family. Box also criticized Moore for his misplaced loyalty in assisting Durnion, which prolonged the family's agony. The detective emphasized that while nothing can bring Reanne back, the significant jail terms serve as a measure of justice for her loved ones, who have shown remarkable courage and dignity throughout the proceedings.
