Urgent Police Appeal to Locate Relatives of Critically Injured Birmingham Man
West Midlands Police have launched an urgent public appeal to find the relatives of a Birmingham man who is fighting for his life following a serious assault in Handsworth. The victim has been named as Mark Patrick Regan, aged 60, who sustained critical injuries in the incident.
Details of the Handsworth Assault
The attack occurred on Tew Park Road in Handsworth on Friday, April 17. Police and paramedics were called to the scene at approximately 2pm. A 38-year-old man, identified as Paul Holloway of Tew Park Road, Handsworth, was arrested at the property. He has since been charged with wounding with intent and has been remanded in custody. Holloway is scheduled to appear before Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Monday, April 20.
Authorities believe that Holloway is known to Mr. Regan. Despite the arrest, police emphasize that their investigation into the circumstances of the assault is ongoing. However, they currently regard it as an isolated incident.
Critical Condition and Family Appeal
Mr. Regan remains in a seriously ill condition in hospital, prompting police to make an unusual public appeal to trace his relatives. Detective Inspector Racheal Allen from the West Midlands Police Major Crime Unit stated, "This was a really serious attack, and it's really important that we speak to any family of Mr. Regan as soon as possible."
She further explained, "We believe he has links to the Handsworth area of Birmingham, the Aldridge and Pelsall areas of Walsall, and also to Wolverhampton. I'd urge anyone who is a relative of Mr. Regan, or who could help us identify them, to get in touch with us as soon as possible."

West Midlands Police are urging anyone with information about Mr. Regan's relatives or details related to the assault to contact them immediately. A police spokesperson confirmed, "Get in touch with us via 101 quoting log 2945 of 17 April if you have any information."
The force is particularly keen to hear from individuals in the Birmingham and Black Country regions, including Walsall and Wolverhampton, where Mr. Regan is known to have connections. This appeal underscores the urgency of the situation as Mr. Regan continues to receive medical treatment for his life-threatening injuries.
