Violent Thug Attacked Woman Twice, Jailed for Nearly 4 Years

A violent thug who attacked a woman twice on the same day before fleeing into woods has been jailed. Asa McGahan, 26, of Burntwood, first assaulted his victim in October 2024. He left the property but returned later that day.

Second Attack and Escape

On the second occasion, he punched the victim and fought with her until police arrived. When told he was under arrest, he fled into nearby woodland. Staffordshire Police officers tracked him down and detained him.

Court Proceedings

McGahan later admitted two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one of escape from lawful custody. He was jailed for three years and ten months at Stafford Crown Court on Thursday, May 28. He also received a restraining order, banning him from contacting the woman for eight years.

Police Statement

Det Con Reece Hingley, from Staffordshire Police’s criminal investigations department, said: “The violence the survivor was subjected to was utterly deplorable. I’m pleased we’ve been able to secure this outcome for her. We will continue to take robust action against those responsible for high-harm offences in Staffordshire and protect those affected by these crimes.”
