Walsall gang jailed over 130 years for violent attack

Shocking CCTV footage captured the moment a car was rammed and its occupants subjected to a brutal assault involving machetes, baseball bats, and a firearm in Walsall. One victim was so severely injured they were placed in an induced coma.

Ferocious Premeditated Assault

The violent incident occurred on Reedswood Lane in Walsall shortly before 11.50pm on July 31, 2024. Five men sitting in a vehicle were targeted by a group armed with an arsenal of weapons. Two cars were used to ram their vehicle before the attackers launched what police described as a 'ferocious attack'.

During the assault, a firearm was discharged at close range into the car. The victims, all suffering serious and life-threatening injuries including gunshot and slash wounds, managed to drive themselves to Walsall Manor Hospital for emergency treatment.

Extensive Manhunt and Sentencing

Following extensive detective work, including trawling through CCTV and phone tracking, nine men were identified and arrested. Amar Khan, 40, from Bentley Drive in Walsall, who was the subject of a public wanted appeal, was arrested in September 2024.

Khan pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. He was sentenced to 13 years and four months at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Friday, December 12, 2025.

The eight other men involved were sentenced earlier. In total, the group received combined prison terms exceeding 130 years for their roles in the orchestrated violence.

Police Vow to Tackle Street Violence

Detective Inspector Francis Nock, from the West Midlands Police Major Crime Unit, stated the force's unwavering stance against such brutality. "Khan had tried to evade justice but he was arrested, charged and now faces more than 13 years in prison," he said.

"The group have now been sentenced to more than 130 years behind bars in total for carrying out a really shocking outbreak of violence in which weapons were used and a firearm discharged, leaving the victims with life-threatening injuries," DI Nock added. "We simply won’t tolerate people who use weapons on our streets."
