A suspected rapist from Wednesbury has now spent almost a year evading capture, leaving detectives frustrated in their search.
Simon Christou, 42, is accused of a horrific attack and has been on the run since June 2025, when an alert and mugshot were first released.
Ongoing Search
West Midlands Police (WMP) initially stated that Christou was 'wanted on suspicion of rape' and warned the public not to approach him but to call 999 immediately if sighted.
Despite these efforts, the wanted man remains at large nearly 12 months later. Authorities believe he may have gone to ground elsewhere in the UK or possibly fled abroad.
The situation remains a concern for public safety, as an allegedly dangerous individual remains free, with no justice or closure for the victim.
WMP continues to appeal for information that could lead to Christou's capture. His mugshot has been shared over 7,000 times in the past year, but so far without success.
Police Appeal
In a statement, WMP said: 'Have you seen Simon Christou? The 41-year-old from Wednesbury is wanted on suspicion of rape. If you see him, do not approach him, but call 999 straight away quoting crime number 20/563264/24.'
Anyone with information is urged to contact police immediately.
