A 37-year-old woman has been arrested after nearly £1,000 worth of items were reportedly stolen from shops in Stourbridge. West Midlands Police detained the woman following reports of thefts from businesses earlier this month.
The arrest took place this morning (Tuesday, August 11) after officers spotted the woman inside a shop on Dudley High Street, just before 9.30am. The woman was wanted in connection with shop thefts that occurred on August 3, 4, and 6 at a store on High Street in Stourbridge.
Investigation into Multiple Thefts
West Midlands Police had been investigating multiple reports of shop theft from a store on High Street, Stourbridge, where hundreds of pounds worth of items were taken from the shelves on three separate occasions. The incidents were reported on August 3, 4, and 6.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We've arrested a woman after nearly £1,000 worth of items were stolen from a store in Stourbridge. Our Neighbourhood Crime Team were called to reports that a woman had been spotted in a store on Dudley High Street, just before 9.30am, this morning (11 Aug) who was wanted for committing shop thefts earlier this month."
Arrest and Custody
A quick response by the team led to the arrest of the 37-year-old woman on suspicion of three counts of theft. She remains in custody for questioning, police confirmed.
The woman was taken into custody following the arrest, and the investigation is ongoing. West Midlands Police have not released further details at this time.
