West Midlands Police have charged a woman in connection with the alleged theft of items worth around £250 from an electrical store at St John's Retail Park in Wolverhampton. Marie Griffiths, aged 45, faces three counts of theft and has been released on bail with strict conditions ahead of her appearance at Dudley Magistrates Court on September 24.
Arrest and Investigation Details
The shop theft reportedly took place at St John's Retail Park, located just off Wolverhampton's ring road. Officers arrested a woman in her 40s on the morning of August 10 in St Peter's Gardens. The arrest came after store staff at the retail park reported the theft of approximately £250 worth of goods on Thursday, July 23.
Investigators also looked into two other shoplifting incidents in the city last month. These involved food valued at around £200 and toiletries worth about £50, reported stolen from two other shops.
Charges and Court Appearance
Following further enquiries, West Midlands Police charged Marie Griffiths with three counts of theft. A spokesperson for the force said: "A woman who was arrested after items were reported stolen from an electrical store in Wolverhampton has been charged."
The spokesperson added: "The woman in her 40s was detained by one of our city centre neighbourhood teams yesterday morning (Mon) in St Peter's Gardens. The arrest came after store staff at St John's Retail Park reported the theft of around £250 worth of goods on Thursday, 23 July."
Bail Conditions and Legal Proceedings
Griffiths has been released on bail, with strict conditions, and is scheduled to appear at Dudley Magistrates Court on September 24. The court will hear the case, which involves three separate theft allegations. The West Midlands Police spokesperson confirmed: "Marie Griffin has been released on bail, with strict conditions, to appear at Dudley Magistrates Court on 24 September."
