A woman is facing a possible prison sentence after threatening someone with a knife at a Birmingham primary school. Capri Anderson, aged 21, pleaded guilty to the offence at Birmingham Crown Court, appearing via a prison video link from HMP Foston Hall in Derbyshire.
Incident at Brownmead Primary Academy
The incident took place at Brownmead Primary Academy in Shard End on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. The school confirmed that the event occurred outside the premises and that pupils were not disturbed. The full details of the incident were not disclosed during the hearing, but it is understood that the victim was an adult, not a pupil.
Court Proceedings
Anderson appeared before District Judge Adrian Lower on Wednesday, June 10, and admitted to threatening a person with a blade on school grounds. Her defence lawyer, Zaheer Afzal, noted that she has previous similar offences on her record. He described the offence as not premeditated but rather a crisis situation, adding that Anderson herself called the police.
Judge Lower acknowledged a support worker's letter highlighting Anderson's mental health difficulties, describing it as 'concerning reading.' He ordered pre-sentence and psychiatric reports to be prepared before sentencing, scheduled for August 19. The judge warned Anderson that all options, including prison, would be considered.
School's Response
Wendy Carter, headteacher of Brownmead Primary Academy, praised the swift actions of staff and police. 'Our children’s safety is our utmost priority, which is why we follow strict safety procedures. I want to thank our superb staff and the police for their calm and swift actions, which meant our children were wholly undisturbed throughout,' she said.
Parents and carers were informed of the precautions taken, and the school expressed gratitude for their continued support. Anderson remains in custody pending sentencing.
