Police have launched an investigation after the body of a woman was discovered inside a property in the Midlands.
Police Discover Body After Welfare Concern
Staffordshire Police officers were called to an address on Ridgway Road in Stoke-on-Trent at approximately 4.10pm on Wednesday, 17 December. The call was made following a report expressing concern for the welfare of a person at the property.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the remains of a woman, who has been identified as being in her 40s. Her next of kin have been informed of her death.
Scene Sealed for Forensic Examination
A police spokesperson confirmed that the death is currently being treated as unexplained. Detectives are keeping an open mind regarding the cause of death while they work to establish the full circumstances.
A scene has been established at the property to allow for a detailed forensic examination. As part of the ongoing investigation, officers are also conducting door-to-door enquiries in the local area to gather information from neighbours and potential witnesses.
