Bristol mother appears in court charged with murdering her three children
Woman in court over deaths of three children in Bristol

A 43-year-old woman has appeared before magistrates accused of murdering her three young children in Bristol last year.

Court Appearance from Hospital Bed

Yasmeen Ali attended Bristol Magistrates' Court via video link from a hospital on Wednesday, 18 December 2025. She spoke only to confirm her name and date of birth during the brief hearing.

Judge Lynne Matthews stated the charges were too serious for the magistrates' court and must be heard in the crown court. She remanded Ali into custody and ordered her to appear at Bristol Crown Court the following day.

Tragic Details of the Allegations

The charges relate to the deaths of Ali's three children in February last year. The victims are named as seven-year-old Fares Bash, three-year-old Joury Bash, and nine-month-old Mohammed Bash.

The incident occurred at the family home on Blaise Walk in the Sea Mills area of Bristol. A coroner's court previously heard that all three children died from stab wounds to their torsos and throats. Evidence also indicated that Fares may have been suffocated.

Family's Heartbreak and Police Review

The children's father, Alfil Bash, was present at the opening of the inquest. Overcome with emotion after the proceedings, he wept as he spoke of his devastation, saying he "could not get his head around what had happened".

In the wake of the tragedy, Avon and Somerset Police referred themselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) regarding previous contact with the family. The police watchdog reviewed the matter and decided a formal investigation was not required.

The case will now proceed through the crown court system, where Yasmeen Ali is expected to enter a formal plea to the three murder charges at a future date.
