Gedling Crematorium Hosts Special Mother's Day Flower Workshop for Bereaved
Mother's Day Flower Workshop for Bereaved at Gedling Crematorium

Gedling Crematorium is extending a heartfelt invitation to anyone who is missing a mother or mother figure, as well as parents who have experienced the loss of a child, to visit and honour their loved ones during the Mother's Day period. This special initiative aims to provide a supportive space for reflection and remembrance.

Commemorative Flower Workshop Details

The crematorium will open its doors on Friday, March 13 from 6pm for a unique flower workshop hosted by City Flower florists. During this session, visitors will receive expert guidance on creating a personalised commemorative bouquet. These floral arrangements can be placed on a loved one's memorial within the crematorium's beautifully landscaped grounds or taken home as a keepsake.

The workshop costs £40 per participant, and interested individuals are encouraged to secure their place by booking in advance. Reservations must be made before Friday, March 6 by calling the crematorium office at 01159 675230 or emailing gedling@westerleighgroup.co.uk.

Additional Memorial Tributes

In addition to the flower workshop, visitors will have the opportunity to write personalised messages and tributes on special cards. These cards can be placed in the crematorium's distinctive white memorial post box throughout the Mother's Day period, offering another meaningful way to maintain a connection with lost loved ones.

Manager's Perspective

Manager Giulia McDonough shared her thoughts on the significance of this event: "Over the Mother's Day period, we are holding in our thoughts all those missing their mother, a mother figure and mothers who are bereaved of a child. They are all very warmly welcome to join us for this special workshop and create a personal, beautiful bouquet in honour of their loved ones."

"We also know that the bereaved can take great comfort from posting messages to loved ones in our white memorial post box, which helps them maintain a feeling of connection with those they have lost."

Inclusive Invitation for All

The invitation extends to anyone wishing to remember their loved ones during Mother's Day, regardless of whether there is a memorial to their mother or mother figure within the crematorium grounds. This welcome applies equally whether the loss is recent or occurred some time ago, and regardless of where the funeral service took place.

Giulia McDonough added: "Mother's Day is one of those annual occasions when a loss can be felt more deeply, and we want to ensure people know that they are very welcome to take comfort in paying tribute to their loved ones at our crematorium."

For those near the crematorium around Mother's Day, everyone is welcome to visit for a peaceful period of reflection and remembrance, whether participating in the workshop or simply spending quiet time in the gardens.
