Mission: Unbreakable 2026 Commando Challenge Returns

Over 30 gruelling obstacles await thrill-seekers as the region's biggest charity assault course, Mission: Unbreakable, returns this autumn. Now in its second decade, the event is officially back for 2026, with nearly 1,000 participants expected to line up on Sunday, October 4.

Event Details and Early Bird Discount

Organised in aid of North Devon Hospice, the event challenges participants to push their limits through mud, water, and military-style obstacles to raise vital funds for local end-of-life care. The 10km course covers wild and rugged terrain on the edge of Exmoor, featuring obstacles designed with 24 Commando Royal Engineers from RMB Chivenor. Those signing up now will get a special early bird discount, but this only lasts until July 31.

Fundraising and Impact

Lizzie Hanks, head of fundraising at North Devon Hospice, said that the event was the ultimate combination of fun and fitness. "We see all abilities taking part in Mission: Unbreakable, because this isn't about how fit you are, it's about how determined you are," she said. "Despite the tough nature of the course, it's so much fun getting wet and muddy with your mates, and there are always big smiles at the finish line when people realise what they've achieved."

Lizzie added that taking on the challenge will change the lives of those being cared for by North Devon Hospice. “We are asking all those taking part to raise a minimum of £80, to help us provide care when it matters most. For ourselves or our loved ones, we'd want those final months, weeks and days to be filled with precious moments - enjoyed in comfort and dignity. Your hospice can make this possible, but only with your support. So get your team together and sign up to Mission: Unbreakable today. Let's conquer the challenge and make a difference together."

Community Support and Sponsorship

Over the last decade, Mission: Unbreakable has welcomed thousands of ‘Unbreakables’ to the start line, raising hundreds of thousands of pounds that have directly funded North Devon Hospice's care in the community. Abi Daley, deputy team lead of North Devon Hospice’s community team, said that taking part will help people remain in the comfort of their own home when facing a life-limiting illness. "We visit patients at home, to help them stay in the place they are most content, surrounded by their home comforts and their loved ones. With the funds raised through Mission: Unbreakable, we're able to continue caring for local people in this way. It is truly life-changing, for the patients and their families. Please sign up and show your support for those who need it most. Thank you."

Wollens has been the headline sponsor of Mission: Unbreakable since the very first event, and their support has grown alongside it over the last ten years. Jon Dunkley, partner at Wollens, said: "At Wollens, we're incredibly proud to continue as headline sponsor of Mission: Unbreakable because North Devon Hospice provides care that touches so many families across our region. Their commitment to supporting people through life's most difficult moments reflects values we share as a firm: compassion, community and standing alongside people when they need it most. Mission: Unbreakable is more than just an event; it brings our community together to achieve something extraordinary while raising vital funds that help the hospice continue its outstanding work. We're honoured to play our part in ensuring this incredible challenge continues to grow and that North Devon Hospice can keep providing exceptional care for local patients and their loved ones."
