An urgent warning has been issued for parents across the UK as popular children's clothing brand Boden recalls multiple pairs of trousers over a risk of cuts. The recall affects several styles of wide-leg trousers in various prints, sold from July 1 to October 31 last year.
Risk of Cuts from Cracked Poppers
The trousers present a safety hazard due to cracked poppers at the waist, which may develop sharp edges and cause cuts to fingers or legs during use. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) stated: "The products present a risk of cuts because there may be cracked poppers at the waist. These cracked poppers may develop sharp edges, causing cuts to fingers or legs during use. The products do not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005."
Affected Products and PO Numbers
The recall includes products with the following PO numbers: G5531 MDN – 660046, 660050, 660604; G5531 DDN – 662354, 662355; G5531 PNK – 663497; G4865 MDN – 661419, 662938; and G4865 DEN – 663091. The PO numbers can be found at the top of the first page of the care label, located on the left-hand side of the trousers as worn. Sizes affected range from 2-3 years up to 7-8 years.
Boden's Response and Customer Advice
Boden has urged customers to stop using the affected products immediately and return them for a full refund. The company said: "We take the safety of our products very seriously. It has recently come to our attention that the above products have fallen below our strict technical and safety standards. Cracked poppers at the waist side can develop sharp edges, which may cause cuts to fingers or legs during use so we have taken the decision to recall these products. If you bought any of the products listed, stop using products immediately. Check if your product is affected. Return the product for a full refund."
Boden added: "We're truly sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us." The OPSS recommends consumers stop using the products and return them to Boden for a full refund.
