Drug Dealer Shot in Wolverhampton Asks "Why Did You Shoot Me?"

A convicted drug dealer who was shot in a planned attack in Wolverhampton bizarrely asked his attackers, "Why did you shoot me?" during court proceedings. Mohammed Jamil, a known drug dealer now serving a six-year sentence, was sitting in his car on Birchwood Road on December 18, 2024, when Ilir Hoxha pulled out a self-loading pistol and fired at him.

Planned Robbery to Take Over Drug Business

The court heard that Hoxha, who "habitually robbed people of their drugs," wanted to steal Jamil's supply to take over his operation. Despite the clear motive, Jamil brazenly told the court: "It was not my fault what happened, it was out of my control." He even asked his attackers, "Why did you still shoot me?"

Severe Injuries and Ongoing Trauma

The shooting left Jamil with severe injuries to his left thigh and near his genitals, with a bullet fragment lodged in his body. He described suffering flashbacks and constant fear, saying: "Every time I get into a car, I'm looking over my shoulder."

Defendants Sentenced

Hoxha, 23, of no fixed abode, and accomplice Ethan Edwards, 22, of Upper Villiers Street, Wolverhampton, both admitted wounding with intent and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. Police found 112g of heroin worth up to £3,500 in Jamil's car two days after the shooting.

Judge Simon Ward described it as a "planned attack" where Hoxha wanted to rob Jamil to "effectively take over his business." Hoxha was jailed for 12 years and 11 months, while Edwards received 11 years and two months. Jamil told the court he feels "sorry" for the defendants, adding: "I hope in time you can reflect on what you did."
