Former Walsall Ambulance Depot Could Become Eight-Bed HMO

Plans have been submitted to transform a former ambulance depot near Junction 10 into an eight-bedroom House of Multiple Occupation (HMO). The property, known as Jubilee House on Bloxwich Lane, was originally built as an ambulance station and later served as offices for Walsall Clinical Commissioning Group.

Temporary Proposal for Security

Applicant Ad Hoc Property Management Ltd stated that the 'temporary' proposal is driven by 'security reasons', aiming to prevent the currently vacant building from attracting antisocial behaviour. The plans do not involve any changes to the building's fabric. If approved by Walsall Council, the property will feature eight accommodation units, two kitchens, five toilet areas, and one shower area.

Current Occupancy and Notice Period

The current occupants, Property Gardens, hold a monthly rolling licence, allowing the landlord to regain vacant possession with 31 days' notice. Ad Hoc Property Management explained: 'The use of an HMO is for security purposes, to maintain the fabric of the building, to prevent antisocial behaviour in the local community, all whilst providing affordable temporary accommodation.'
