Man glassed and punched at Midlands curry house

A man was glassed and punched following an altercation at a Midlands curry house, police have confirmed. The incident took place at the New Royal Balti in Audley, Staffordshire, at around 1am on Friday, June 5.

Victim Hospitalised

Staffordshire Police stated that the victim, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing. A spokesperson for the force said: "We were called to Church Street, Audley, following reports of an assault. The victim had been punched and hit with a glass bottle."

Restaurant Statement

A post on the restaurant's Facebook page on Friday afternoon warned customers of a potential police presence outside. The statement read: "We would like to make our customers aware that there may be a police presence outside the restaurant today following an incident that occurred late last night on the premises. As part of their ongoing enquiries, forensic officers have attended the restaurant to gather information and establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident. Unfortunately, the area where the altercation took place was outside the coverage of our CCTV system. We are fully cooperating with the authorities and would like to thank our customers for their understanding and continued support."

Police Investigation

Authorities are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. The spokesperson added: "Anyone with information that could assist the investigation should call 101, quoting incident number 25 of June 6." The Sentinel reports that forensic officers have been examining the scene as inquiries continue.
