Solihull Man Fined £831 for Knuckleduster Possession

A Solihull warehouse worker has been fined £831 after police discovered a knuckleduster in his pocket during a stop on Perch Avenue. Dylan Connolly, 21, from Fordbridge, pleaded guilty to possessing an offensive weapon in a public place at Birmingham Magistrates' Court.

The incident occurred on April 17 when officers stopped Connolly. The court heard he was a man of “good character” with stable employment. His defence lawyer, Ms Begum, stated Connolly had forgotten the weapon was in his jacket pocket after returning from work. “It was not used, it was not threatened, it was not brandished,” she said. “He accepts he shouldn’t have had it.”

The magistrates’ chair emphasized the seriousness of carrying weapons, noting public expectation of punishment. However, they acknowledged Connolly’s previous good character and steady job. He was ordered to pay a total of £831, including a £533 fine, and the knuckleduster will be destroyed under a forfeiture order.
