Teen Stabbed in Birmingham City Centre

A 17-year-old boy was stabbed in Birmingham city centre on Tuesday evening, sustaining life-threatening injuries after violence erupted between two groups in Victoria Square.

Incident Details

Police were called to Victoria Square at approximately 8:30pm on Tuesday, June 23, following reports of a fight. The teenager was found with stab wounds and rushed to hospital. West Midlands Police confirmed this morning that the victim is in a stable condition.

Police Appeal

Detective Superintendent Lucy Kirwan said: "We know this will cause concern to those living, working and visiting the city centre and we will have an increased presence in the area to offer reassurance. The incident happened at a busy time last night, and we know there were a lot of people in the area. If you have any mobile phone footage of what happened or can provide any information then please contact us."

Investigation Underway

A major investigation has been launched, with officers sealing off the square for forensic examination. A force spokesperson added: "We are reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses as part of our enquiries and a cordon remains in place while we forensically examine the area."
