Andy Warwick, a lifelong Scouting volunteer from Hythe, has been recognised for his decades of dedication with the Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care Community Hero Award. The accolade, presented at a special ceremony, came with a gift and a £100 voucher.
Recognition for 13 Years of Service
Warwick, who serves as Group Lead Volunteer at 3rd Dibden Purlieu Scout Group, was nominated for his inspirational leadership, compassion, and ongoing commitment to local families. His involvement in Scouting spans most of his life, with more than 13 years spent volunteering with the group.
Scouting is a family affair for the Warwicks: his children are active in Cubs and Scouts, and his wife, Jo, volunteers as a Squirrel Scout Leader. Andy began as an Assistant Cub Scout Leader and now dedicates many hours each week to planning inclusive activities that build confidence and independence in young people.
Personal Connection to Scrivens
Andy is also a patient at the Scrivens Southampton Hythe branch, where receiving digital hearing aids has boosted his confidence when communicating with parents and volunteers. This personal connection made the award especially meaningful.

Andy's Response and Ongoing Impact
Andy expressed his surprise and gratitude: “I have been in Scouting all my life, so it was a complete surprise when my wife, Jo, and the Scrivens Southampton Hythe branch team organised the award nomination and presentation.
“It's a great honour to receive this award, but it is also recognition of the whole team who give up their free time to support our group and amazing young people. It is a privilege to help young people grow in confidence, enjoy new experiences and gain skills for life.”
The award highlights the vital role volunteers play in community organisations like Scouts, and Andy's continued efforts will undoubtedly inspire others to get involved.
