Love Island winner Jasmine Müller has finally addressed the real reason her friendship with runner-up Julia Majchrzak soured during the series, revealing it came down to a clash in emotional intelligence rather than any major fallout.
Speaking on the NewlyParents podcast with ex-Made In Chelsea stars Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo, Jasmine explained that while she admired Julia's confidence and strong personality, their friendship began to struggle when the Casa Amor girls joined the main villa.
A clash of personalities
Jasmine described Julia as a "massive character" who is "super opinionated," and even admitted seeing traces of herself in the Polish bombshell. However, the dynamic shifted when the group had to blend their bold personalities together.
"I think where we started to struggle, maybe, as a girl group, was... what we were quite good at doing, is, I think, the emotional reading – the intelligence part of it," Jasmine said.
She explained that her group's approach was to stop and take a breather when someone was feeling something, saying "we’d be like, 'Okay, we’ll talk about this later. It’s not that big of a deal. This is minor. I love you.'"
The turning point
Jasmine revealed the friction with Julia stemmed from a perceived lack of emotional awareness. "Sometimes with Julia, I think the hard part was that she maybe didn’t necessarily clock, like, 'You’re hurting someone now. This is maybe not the time.' So that’s where it started to go sour."
Her boyfriend Kavan Murphy, who also appeared on the podcast, agreed with Jasmine's assessment, adding that Julia is "very opinionated."
No major fallout
Despite the on-screen clashes that led fans to believe there was a bitter feud, Jasmine insisted there was never a massive argument. "It’s so minor. We’ve all lived this experience together," she said.
She also addressed the infamous moment at the live final when she appeared to snub Julia by refusing to hug her. Jasmine claimed she doesn't remember doing that, suggesting Maya Jama may have pulled her away for a quick question.
Fans' theories debunked
Many fans had speculated that the tension was due to Jasmine's close friendship with Lorenzo Alessi, which sparked jealous reactions from both Julia and Kavan. Others believed it was simply a personality clash. Jasmine's explanation now provides clarity on the true source of the friction.
The 2026 Love Island champion and runner-up have since moved on, with Jasmine confirming their relationship is now civil. "We’ve all lived this experience together," she reiterated, emphasising that the rift was not as dramatic as it seemed.
