Milk theft caught on doorbell camera in Bearwood
A Bearwood resident was left astonished after discovering her milk bottles had been snatched from her doorstep by a woman wearing only black underwear and flip flops. The incident occurred at 5am on Friday, July 17, and was captured on the householder's doorbell camera.
The mother of two young children had been wondering where her milk delivery had gone when she decided to check the footage. To her surprise, the video showed a woman walking up her drive, grabbing two milk bottles, and making a quick getaway.
Resident shares footage on Facebook
Rather than keeping the incident to herself, the bemused householder uploaded the images to Facebook. Other local residents soon reported that their milk had also gone missing recently, suggesting a pattern of thefts in the area.
Speaking about the theft, the householder said: "We were very frustrated to see it on our doorbell as have two young children, but you hope it's someone in such desperate need they resort to stealing. Why in her underwear we do not know!"
Impact on local milk deliveries
The incident has made the family reconsider their milk delivery service. The householder added: "Makes us think twice about getting milk delivered as it has happened several times in our area recently."
Police investigation launched
West Midlands Police confirmed they received a report of theft at 5.10am on July 17. A police statement said: "Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 or use the Live Chat option on our website quoting crime number 20/328342/26."
