An exciting open day is coming to Maylandsea this weekend for anyone who has ever fancied trying sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, or paddleboarding.
Event Details
Harlow (Blackwater) Sailing Club is welcoming visitors to its beautiful base at the end of North Drive on Saturday, May 30. Running from 10.30am to 3pm, the special event welcomes singles, couples, families, and people of all ability levels.
The club has expanded wonderfully over the past decade to support a wide range of non-motorised water sports alongside its traditional sailing roots. Visitors can enjoy using the club’s own fleet of 13 kayaks, as well as a great selection of windsurfing gear and paddleboards.
Activities on Offer
Expert helms will be right there on the day to safely take newcomers out on a sailing dinghy or a yacht. Families can also enjoy scenic trips around the bay in the safety boat, where they can look out for local seals in the unspoilt Lawling Creek.
Guests are encouraged to bring a change of clothing for the activities, and full changing rooms as well as safety buoyancy aids will be provided.
Special Guests and Refreshments
The Maldon branch of the RNLI will be joining the fun with a lovely gift stall, and the marine division of Essex Police also hope to visit in a powerful boat. A variety of refreshments will be available to enjoy throughout the day, including a good-value licensed bar.
Though the club has not actually been located in Harlow for decades, it remains a warm and friendly hub for water sports lovers across the region.
