Nursery Outdoor Learning Transformation Boosts Child Engagement in Ramsgate
Nursery Outdoor Learning Transformation in Ramsgate

Since September, the Nursery staff and children have been on a mission to transform the Nursery outdoor learning environment. They have worked together to zone the different areas and now have a wide range of learning opportunities available to them.

These include literacy, maths, water and sand play, a music area, mud kitchen, a reading den, role play, construction, and an understanding the world area with a sensory/fairy garden where the children have helped to plant herbs, fruit and vegetables.

The Nursery teacher and Early Years Lead, Miss Rees, also organised a painting afternoon, where she invited the parents of the Nursery children into the garden to help paint the fences and other areas of the garden, along with the children.

Miss Rees reports that the new areas as well as the brightening up of the garden has had a significant positive impact on the children's engagement and learning. The children are demonstrating excellent independence in managing their own learning and environment and they are really enjoying being able to taste the herbs that they have planted themselves.
