Tranquil 1992, a beloved Vietnamese coffee shop in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter, has announced the closure of its after-hours wine bar to concentrate on developing its core coffee house business. The decision comes just months after the launch of the evening venture.
Closure of After Hours Wine Bar
The coffee shop, known for its authentic Vietnamese drinks, introduced Tranquil 1992 After Hours in January 2026 at its Vyse Street location. The evening bar offered imported wines, beers, and a vinyl soundtrack featuring jazz and house music. However, the owners have decided to close this operation due to unforeseen circumstances.
In an Instagram post, a spokesperson expressed gratitude to patrons: "With a heavy heart, we're sharing that our 'After Hours' will be closing permanently at this venue due to unexpected circumstances. Though we have tried to negotiate, it is tough for us to make this decision. We're so thankful for all the love and support you've shown us - it truly means the world."
Focus on Coffee House Expansion
The team will now redirect their efforts entirely to the Tranquil 1992 coffee house on Hall Street. The spokesperson added: "We'll now be focusing fully on our Tranquil 1992 coffee house and would love to see you there. We also have some exciting things coming soon for the coffee house, so stay tuned. Thank you for being part of our journey."
This strategic shift comes amid renewed interest in the Jewellery Quarter, which was recently named the best place to live in Birmingham. The area attracts visitors beyond its traditional gold shopping appeal.
