A couple from Telford have named their newborn son David in honour of Sir David Attenborough, after he was born on the same day as the naturalist's 100th birthday.
A Special Coincidence
Little David arrived at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford on 8 May, weighing 7lb 3oz. His parents, Sarah and Tom, were delighted to discover that their son shared his birthday with the world-renowned broadcaster and environmentalist.
Sarah said: 'We had no idea that Sir David Attenborough's 100th birthday was on the same day. It was only when the midwife mentioned it that we realised the coincidence. We both admire him so much, and it felt like a sign to name our son after him.'
A Tribute to a Legend
The couple, who are from Telford, decided to name their baby David as a tribute to Attenborough's work in conservation and natural history. Tom added: 'He's a national treasure, and we hope our son grows up to have the same passion for nature and the planet.'
The family have since received congratulations from friends and family, who have praised the unique name choice. Sarah's mother said: 'It's a lovely way to mark such a special day. We're all so proud.'
Sir David Attenborough, who turned 100 on 8 May, has been a prominent figure in broadcasting for over seven decades, known for his documentaries such as 'Planet Earth' and 'Blue Planet'. His birthday was celebrated worldwide, with numerous tributes and events.
