A California man who was expecting his first child has died after a tragic rock climbing accident. Andy Paul Ferrarone, 33, was scaling cliffs near Castle Rock in Big Bear on July 12 when he slipped on a rocky slope and fell approximately 20 feet, suffering a severe head injury.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, the incident occurred at around 5:25 pm local time. The sheriff's aviation unit was dispatched to the scene and began CPR before Ferrarone could be airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Centre. He remained on life support for several days but tragically passed away on July 15.
Ferrarone leaves behind his wife, Nina, who is nine weeks pregnant with their first child. The couple had been married for less than two years and were looking forward to starting a family.
