A close-knit group of five young friends have been named as the victims of a devastating road traffic collision in County Louth, Ireland, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, 15th November 2025.

Victims of the Tragedy

The friends have been identified as Chloe McGee, 23, Shay Duffy, 21, Alan McCluskey, 23, Dylan Commins, 23, and Chloe Hipson, 21. They were all travelling in a Volkswagen Golf when it was involved in a collision with a Toyota Land Cruiser on the L3168 road.

A sixth person in the Golf survived the incident, sustaining serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and is currently receiving treatment in hospital. The two occupants of the Land Cruiser were also hospitalised following the crash, with neither suffering injuries deemed to be life-threatening.

Heartbreaking Personal Details Emerge

Heartbreaking personal details have since come to light, revealing that one of the young women who lost her life, Chloe McGee, was a school teacher from Carrickmacross in Co Monaghan. She had recently secured a permanent teaching position at the Ó Fiaich Institute of Further Education in Dundalk.

The institute's principal, Padraig McGovern, shared a poignant tribute, stating he had spoken with Chloe just the day before the tragedy. "She was full of fun and she was full of achievement and success and looking forward to the weekend," he told Morning Ireland. "Chloe had got a permanent job and she was celebrating that... She loved her job... was very keen on her job... and was also the sort of girl that was involved in everything."

Ongoing Garda Investigation

Gardaí in Dundalk are continuing their investigation into the exact circumstances of the fatal collision. A spokesperson confirmed that the scene on the R3168 was meticulously examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the Divisional Scenes of Crime Unit.

Forensic examinations and assessments at the scene were completed by the State Pathologist, Linda Mulligan. Both vehicles involved were subsequently removed to a secure location on Sunday, 16th November. The remains of the five deceased have been taken to the morgue at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where post-mortem examinations will be conducted in the coming days. The families of all the victims are being kept informed of the investigation's progress.
