The Kings Norton community is mourning the loss of nine-year-old Kyron, who died following a serious crash on Masshouse Lane on Tuesday, July 28. West Midlands Police confirmed the child had been taken to hospital and later died.
Tributes left at the scene
Flowers and tributes have been placed on Masshouse Lane. One note read: "Fly high Kyron. Keep singing, dancing and smiling! You will be missed. Goodnight, God bless Kiddo."
The Kings Oak pub on Vardon Way described Kyron as a "bright, beautiful soul" who was "taken from us far too soon" in a tragic car accident. The pub said: "Kyron was such a happy, loving, and special child. He had a warmth that lit up every room, a smile that could brighten the darkest day, and a heart full of kindness and joy."
Community fundraising effort
The pub is holding a fundraising event on August 22 between 2pm and 6pm, with raffle donations to support Kyron's family with funeral costs. The pub said: "Every donation, no matter the size, will help us keep Kyron's memory alive and support this meaningful tribute in his name."
Kyron's family are also fundraising to give him a "beautiful and dignified funeral he deserves." At the time of publication, £6,315 had been raised towards a target of £11,000.
The pub added: "Your light may have faded from our sight, but it will forever shine in our hearts. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, generosity, and support."
