Rachel Garbett, 22, admitted stealing almost £5,000 worth of Lego sets from major retailers across Birmingham and Solihull during a crime spree in March and April. Birmingham Magistrates' Court heard that she targeted Sainsbury's, Tesco, and B&M stores, making off with high-value toy hauls.
Details of the Thefts
In a single raid, Garbett stole £2,000 worth of Lego from a Sainsbury's store. She also took £1,000 worth of sets from Tesco, and additional hauls worth £400, £500, and £700 from B&M stores. The total value of stolen Lego reached £4,600.
Her thefts extended beyond toys. She admitted stealing £634 worth of goods from Homesense and £468 worth of beauty products from M&S.
Court Proceedings
Prosecutor Lina Akhtar told the court: "This was a series of thefts of high-value items, including Lego." The court heard that Garbett, of Acocks Green, had nine convictions from 16 previous offences.
District Judge Michelle Smith deferred sentencing for intensive supervision, telling Garbett: "Show me you can do this." The judge warned she faced jail if she failed to comply. The case was re-listed for sentencing on August 27.
