Love Island's Ellie Chadwick Opens Up About Leaving Villa

Love Island's Ellie Chadwick has spoken candidly about her decision to leave the villa alongside Finley Maddock after he was dumped by the Islanders. Despite her villa bestie Lorenzo Alessi urging her to reconsider, Ellie remained resolute in her choice, stating that her gut, heart, and head all pointed to leaving as the best option.

Ellie's Certainty in Her Decision

Ellie explained that she did not want to stay in the villa as a 'placeholder' until the final. She said: 'Nothing in my gut told me I needed to stay. I knew full well in my gut, my heart and my head that leaving was the only and the best option for me, so that’s what I did.' However, she admitted she had hoped she and Finley could remain in the villa to 'continue to grow' together.

The Dumping That Changed Everything

The drama unfolded after a public vote placed Finley in the bottom six Islanders. The cast faced a tough choice: send Finley home, knowing Ellie would leave with him, or send Mica Harris and Samraj Toor home. As one of the strongest couples, the Islanders felt Mica and Samraj deserved to stay, leading to Finley's departure. Ellie had been distraught just days earlier over Finley's actions with bombshell Elicia Bailey, but they had since rekindled their relationship.

Ellie's Reflections on Finley's Behavior

Ellie acknowledged that Finley handled the situation with Elicia poorly, but she adopted a forgiving attitude: 'We live and we learn. That’s what Love Island is. It’s about living and learning. I’ve learned a lot about myself there and I’ve got to give him grace on that.' However, she made it clear that Finley still has work to do, insisting his 'grafting boots' remain on even outside the villa.

Finley's Commitment to Make Amends

Finley also recognized his need to make up for the hurt he caused. He said: 'You learn a lot when you’re in there about how to deal with things. It’s a completely unique experience. I’m grateful for it and I’ve learned a lot. Now I need to put the things I’ve learned into action!'

Love Island continues tonight at 9PM on ITV2 and ITVX.
