A couple from the Midlands have scooped a huge £1 million prize in a National Lottery draw. The pair, who have not been named, bagged the cash in the Lotto Guaranteed Millionaire Raffle on Saturday, July 4.
How the Win Happened
A unique Millionaire Raffle code was added to every Lotto ticket, and 10 players won £1 million, a spokesperson for National Lottery said. One of the lucky ticket holders was a couple from Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire.
Plans for the Winnings
They hope to use their winnings to retire early in the sunshine and renovate their home. The couple said: "Winning £1m has taken an enormous weight from our shoulders. Knowing we're financially secure means we can truly enjoy life, fulfil our dreams and have the adventures we've always talked about. It's completely changed how we look at the future and has brought our retirement plans much closer than we ever imagined."

How to Play and Check Tickets
A spokesperson for National Lottery added: "Players can buy and check their tickets online by downloading the National Lottery app or at national-lottery.co.uk. They can also buy and check tickets in retail. Playing online via the app or website means that your ticket is automatically checked, and you get an email notification if you win a prize. You can also scan your retail tickets on the National Lottery app to check if you're a winner."
Changes to Lotto
Every £2 Lotto line now gives players two chances to win, all for the same price and with the same number of balls to choose from. The changes will create hundreds more millionaires each year (expected to go from around 140 a year to approximately 345) on the nation’s millionaire maker, with players’ chances of winning any prize improving from 1 in 9.3 to 1 in 4.9.
