The heartbroken mother of a young man killed in a tragic road collision has paid a moving tribute to her "kind and patient" son, describing how his sudden death has left an unimaginable void in their lives.
Charlie Daffern, just 22 years old, lost his life following a collision involving a silver Ford Fiesta on Pershore Road in Birmingham. The incident occurred near the Edgbaston Cricket Ground on Tuesday, March 19th, around 9:15 PM.
In an emotional statement released through West Midlands Police, Charlie's mother remembered her son as someone who "never had a bad word to say about anyone" and possessed a "gentle and patient nature that touched everyone he met."
A Life Cut Short
Charlie, described as a talented artist with a passion for creativity, had been studying art at Bournville College before his life was tragically cut short. His mother shared how he found joy in simple pleasures, particularly his love for art and spending quality time with his family.
"Charlie was the most loving son and brother," his mother expressed. "He had such a gentle and patient nature and never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was kind to everyone he met."
Community in Mourning
The local community has been left reeling from the tragic incident, with flowers and tributes appearing at the scene of the collision. Friends and neighbours have described Charlie as a "beautiful soul" who always had time for others.
West Midlands Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision and have appealed for any witnesses to come forward. Officers are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident.
A Family's Plea
In her tribute, Charlie's mother made a heartfelt plea to other young people: "Please, please take care on the roads. No family should have to go through this pain."
The family has asked for privacy during this difficult time as they come to terms with their devastating loss. They remember Charlie not for the tragedy of his death, but for the beauty he brought to their lives during his 22 years.
