A mother of two from Caerphilly in South Wales is celebrating a life-changing windfall after winning the top prize of £1 million on a National Lottery Millionaire Maker scratchcard.
An Impulse Purchase Leads to a Fortune
The woman, who is in her 40s, was out doing her supermarket shopping when her eye was caught by a suitcase on sale near the exit. After deciding to buy the discounted luggage, she headed to the lottery till nearby to pay. It was there she spotted a poster advertising the Millionaire Maker game.
On a whim, she decided to try her luck and purchased one of the scratchcards. The result left her in complete shock as she realised she had just become an instant millionaire by landing the game's jackpot prize.
Dreams of Holidays, a New Home and Family Security
Speaking about her incredible win, the lucky winner said: “I feel excited, but absolutely still in shock. Winning for us means that we can upgrade our holidays, buy a new home, and look after our kids by giving them something for the future.”
Andy Carter, the Senior Winners’ Advisor at Allwyn, which operates The National Lottery, offered his congratulations to the Caerphilly-based winner. He said: “What wonderful news for our winner and her family, and what an amazing story. What started off as a discounted suitcase ended up as a life-changing £1m. You never know when it might be you!”
