Marjorie Goodwin, a resident of Belong care village on Loushers Lane in Warrington, marked her 102nd birthday with a special presentation recognizing her military service during the Second World War. The celebration took place at her home, attended by close friends, family, and military representatives.
Medal and Veteran's Badge Presented
Representatives from the local Royal British Legion presented Marjorie with a medal and a veteran's badge. The presentation was followed by shared cake and stories, as attendees honored her contributions to the war effort.
As a young woman, Marjorie served in the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS), the women's branch of the British Army during the conflict. Stationed in Cambridge, her daily duties included organizing regiments on railway platforms to collect vital supplies delivered by incoming trains.
Recognition from Belong Warrington
Louise Kelly, experience coordinator at Belong Warrington, expressed pride in the occasion. “It was a privilege to be part of such a meaningful occasion and honour Marjorie’s remarkable contribution to our country’s history,” she said.
